Harrison Ford and A Special Offer for YOU: Let’s Answer Some Electronic Mail Questions
I have lived in New York City for 22 years. This NBA Finals run by the New York Knicks is the most fun this place has been over those 22 years. New Yorkers get a bad rap because I think people are, generally, pretty nice here as long as you don't get in their/our way. And that whole thing about New Yorkers loving to give directions is totally true. I love giving directions. I find this satisfying.
Having said that, there has been a recent pep in the step of pretty much everyone. People are smiling. I've never seen anything like it. Since I moved here in 2004, New York teams have won three championships in the four major sports. The Giants twice and the Yankees once. The thing about those championships, the Jets fans and the Mets fans weren't exactly thrilled. With the Knicks, it feels like the whole city can finally agree on a team. (The Nets moved from the Meadowlands in New Jersey to Brooklyn in 2012. They have what I'd call a "niche" following.)
The added bonus for me is I get to join in. I am an NBA fan free agent. I grew up in Missouri, a team with no NBA teams.¹ The closest would be the Chicago Bulls and the thought of me ever rooting for a Chicago team is preposterous. I have allegiances in the other three sports, but not the NBA. Anyway, my point is I can join in on the fun, guilt free, because I am not cheating on another team.
¹A lot of people don't realize that Missouri has had two NBA teams, but not at the same time. Some people do remember that the Kansas City Kings moved to Sacramento in 1985. It is kind of surprising that more people don't realize the Hawks used to play in St. Louis. Yes, they moved in 1968, but that team did win an NBA Championship in St. Louis in 1958 and Bob Pettit (who, at 93, is still alive) was chosen to the NBA's 75th anniversary team in 2021.
In honor of the Knicks run, I have a special for paid subscribers and current subscribers. The next five new paid subscriptions of any kind, they will receive a Marty Supreme ping pong ball, because I now see Timothée Chalamet and Josh Safdie on the television more often than I did during this past awards season. Also! For current paid subscribers, I will also mail out five Marty Supreme ping pong balls. In both cases you just have to email me your address at mike@thehardpass.net (in the US only). This newsletter only exists because of paid subscribers. I like doing the newsletter, so thank you to all of you for helping to keep this going.

Okay, let's answer some questions:
You seem like you bring up obscure or older projects that actors have worked on that you tend to ask about. Any of them ever really light up about a random project or topic and then talk at length about? Or give you some behind the scenes info that wasn't known? – Ted
