That Time An Actor Vaguely Threatened To Kill Me Over A Movie Review
It's ... unusual to get a message from a well known actor that includes a reference about having me killed. I remember exactly where I was when this happened. It was a Friday night and I was waiting for a friend at a local New York City bar that no longer exists when I got a push notification from a Twitter DM. It was an actor who was clearly not happy about a review I wrote about his latest movie. Then another. Then another. Then another.
(It's been a bit since a true "May the bridges I burn light the way" entry. These are posts where I wrote about "things that happened." So I'm just making it clear this in no way involves Luke Perry other than he delivered the line as Dylan McKay, "May the bridges I burn light the way," on Beverly Hills: 90210.)
Then came the reference about having me killed. I sent this to a few friends to see what they thought. Was he kidding? I didn't find it particularly funny, but maybe I was missing something. The consensus came back that he might not be kidding, but it was also unlikely that he was actually going to kill me. Which, I suppose that's comforting. And, so far, that's been true. And all of this is over a movie review for the stupidest possible movie this could be about. And from an actor whose identity may not surprise you all that much (yes I do reveal who it is and there will be screenshots)…
