For around 15 years I was staff at Uproxx, HuffPost and Movieline. I’ve written for a lot of places like Vanity Fair, New York, GQ, Wired, and Empire. I now own a newsletter.
Philip Seymour Hoffman would have turned 59 this week, on July 23rd. It actually makes no sense whatsoever he's now been gone for over 12 years. A lot of this probably has to do with how timeless a lot of his movies are and that a great number
When no one knew what Christopher Nolan's next movie would be after Oppenheimer (which, of course, became The Odyssey), one of the strangest rumors was that Nolan was going to remake the 1983 John Badham film, Blue Thunder. Now, I happen to love Blue Thunder. (So much, in
Talking to a famous actor or filmmaker at a premiere or event party is, usually, a terrible experience. Here are a couple of examples. There was an event for John Wick 2 around the time New York Comic Con was happening. A publicist I like asked me to stop by.

It's always interesting to see what a filmmaker makes after winning Best Picture. You know, when that filmmaker is in the best position of their career to make their passion project. But it's doubly interesting with Christopher Nolan, who was already in a position of getting
First of all, "I just fit in with whatever’s going on," is a quote directly from Sam Neill as I tried to give him praise during an interview. At the time I dismissed this as Neill being affable, which he certainly was. But, in retrospect, today, after

The day I'm typing this is on a Friday. So that's good in that, if you're reading this on Friday, we have all made it another week. Anyway, this post on Bluesky got my attention: Getting past my own neuroticism about assuming I'

It was about 25 minutes into Supergirl, the second film of the new DCU – this one directed by Craig Gillespie; a director whose movies, like I, Tonya and Cruella and Lars and the Real Girl, I like — when I wondered to myself why I was not totally enjoying the Supergirl
